Fog Lights

b_200_150_16777215_00___images_Page5_DSCF6085.JPGHello everyone that that might traverse the SubaruGarage universe (as small as it may be). I'm back with another awesome project that I finished after being back home for a week. You might have noticed my custom bumper (hole in front of the radiator is bigger). I know, I know. I haven't done a write up on it yet because well... I didn't do it correctly. And while its still holding up. I wish I had known the proper method before starting. Moving back on track, my original idea was to make my car look more like the super JDM GT-B Limited without spending massive amounts of money. Adding huge foglights in addition to your stock ones made my car look 100% more GT-B.

b_200_150_16777215_00___images_Page5_DSCF6071.JPGGetting the lights was litterally the hardest part of this entire project. Luckily I have awesome friends, and ones who own jeeps too! I picked up two massive (7" maybe) foglights off my buddy's old Cherokee. They had lots of New Mexican dirt and grime on them that would need to be cleaned off before mounting. Once I had flown them all the way back to PA, I set to work. The first thing I did was cut out the ugly grill from the mount. This was easily accoumplished with a dremel tool. Making short work of the grills I sanded down the nubs left by the saw. The result after finishing was clean, but could have been made better with some 60-100G sand paper (I do not have such luxurys).

Next I bought four stainless steel 3/8" fender washers from Home Depot for mounting them. Once I had them set in the bumper where I wanted them I pulled the two stock foglights (victims for wiring). I unclipped them and set them aside for some much needed polishing. Then I split the wires and soldered in two longer ones for the new fogs. Now, I say this as if it was easy, but it took me FOREVER! It was really really cold outside that day and my soldering iron didn't want to heat up so it took much longer than I wanted it too. I really wish I had a garage to work in (Ironic isn't it?). After all the wiring was done I fired them up. Only to learn that the left one either has a burt bulb (what I'm hoping for) or I messed the polarity of the wires up. That means I might have to rewire the left one completly.
